Irish Bread

Source: BaBa Murphy (my grandmother, so don’t make fun)

This is true Irish Bread and the best I’ve ever had.  My grandmother came from Ireland and she was a terrific baker!

Ingredients:

3 cups flour

1 cup bran buds (if you can’t find bran buds 1 additional cup of flour can be substituted)

1 cup sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 stick melted butter (or margarine)

16 oz. sour cream

2 beaten eggs

1 cup raisins

Directions:

Mix the dry ingredients together.

Add butter, sour cream and eggs (spoon or beater is fine)

Add raisins (it’s really hard to get the mixture even at this point)

Pour in a greased / lightly floured angel food or bundt pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.

Let cool and serve
